October is Dyslexia Awareness Month: Wear RED on Tues., Oct. 15

October is Dyslexia Awareness Month—a time to celebrate the unique strengths and challenges of students with dyslexia.

While this month is dedicated to raising awareness, it’s essential that our support continues throughout the entire year. In SBISD, we are dedicated to providing ongoing resources and information for students and their families.

We’re thrilled to kick off a series of events aimed at enhancing understanding and awareness.

On October 15, join us for SBISD Dyslexia Day by wearing red or your favorite dyslexia awareness shirt. Be sure to tweet and tag us @SBISDDyslexia! Throughout the month, we’ll also be distributing Dyslexia Learning Calendars for parents and students, packed with helpful tips and engaging activities.

Looking ahead, mark your calendars for our Dyslexia Parent Awareness sessions in November: “Experience Dyslexia & Learning” at Memorial Drive Elementary on November 12, and at Pine Shadows Elementary on November 19, both at 5:30 PM. In January, we will host a Virtual Dyslexia Student Panel, with more details coming soon.

We encourage everyone to explore our updated SBISD Dyslexia website for the latest information, resources, and learning opportunities. Together, let’s commit to making awareness and support a year-round priority! Stay connected and follow us on Twitter @SBISDDyslexia for updates and more.
